Movistar and Ganvam join forces to boost connected mobility

  • The agreement expands the distribution network of the Movistar Car solution to make any car safer and smarter

Madrid, 28th October 2020. At a time when Spain is designing the 2030 Safe, Sustainable and Connected Mobility Strategy, Movistar and the National Association of Motor Vehicle, Repair and Spare Part Sellers (GANVAM) are joining forces to help boost the fleet of connected vehicles. Telefonica teams up with the association of vehicle distributors to boost the Spanish fleet of connected cars.

Taking advantage of the capillarity of the most representative business organization for the sale and repair of cars in Spain, Telefónica will expand the distribution network of its Movistar Car solution, capable of turning any car into a smart car in order to improve the driving experience and increase safety behind the wheel.

Movistar Car allows you to connect a vehicle and offer, among other features, a WiFi network, a navigator with optimal routes, a direct channel with emergency service, and features related to vehicle diagnosis and maintenance.

As Borja de Nicolás, Director of New Residential Businesses Marketing at Telefonica Spain, has highlighted, “this agreement with Ganvam represents an important milestone in our objective of moving towards the fully connected car, a clear objective since Telefónica launched Movistar Car as a service aimed at connecting the car to make it safer and smarter and available to all users ”.

For the president of Ganvam, Raúl Palacios, “with this alliance, the first that Telefónica reaches in these terms with an business association, we are laying the foundations not only to accelerate what will be the future of mobility, with savings in hours lost in traffic jams, in emissions and of course in accident claims, but also the future of the distribution sector, turning vehicle distributors into providers of mobility services, precisely with the connected car and digitization as its axis ”.
